15 MAY 2013: THE GRANGE IS COMPLETED

RES is celebrating the completion of The Grange Wind Farm, which lies between Sutton Bridge and Tydd St Mary in Lincolnshire. At 14MW, the wind farm is capable of generating enough clean, green renewable electricity to meet the average needs of more than 10,000 homes.

Construction work started in January 2012 and the turbine components were delivered to site 12 months later. All seven turbines were erected by the end of March 2013, and since then  the commissioning and testing of the turbines has been taking place. RES owns and operates The Grange Wind Farm and looks forward to continuing the links forged with the local community during the development and construction phases.

The Grange Wind Farm will provide significant local benefits. During the construction phase, RES supported local organisations in a number of ways, such as donating prizes for the local school raffle. Now that the wind farm is fully operational, RES has set up a Community Benefit Fund that will provide £28,000 every year for the lifetime of the wind farm for investment in local projects. The Fund is being administered by Lincolnshire Community Foundation, with decisions about where to allocate the money being made by a panel of local people.

Samantha Mayes, RES Community Relations Co-ordinator, said: "We would like to thank the local communities around The Grange Wind Farm for their interest and support for the project, in particular those individuals who have been regular members of our Community Liaison Group. We are delighted that the wind farm has been completed on schedule, and that the Community Benefit Fund is now open to applications from local projects."

The Grange Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund is open to projects within 10 miles of The Grange Wind Farm. More details about the Fund and how to apply can be found at http://lincolnshirecf.co.uk/grants/grange-community-wind-farm
