RES sponsored this year's Presentation Night for Walpole Youth Football Club, celebrating another successful season of community football for children in the Walpoles and Sutton Bridge area.  The awards night, held on Saturday June 6th at Walton Highway, attracted a crowd of nearly 300 as children and their families got together for both the serious presentations, and some serious fun too!

This past season, the club ran teams from under 7's up to under 15's, competing in leagues in Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.  Every player received a RES Merit Award, with special awards at each age group for players of the year and top scorers.

The club are always on the look out for new players.  This coming season, they are particularly keen to attract new talent in next school years 4, 5 and 8.  Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, football training sessions are held between 6 and 7 on the Community Centre field in Walpole St Andrew.  For more information, please contact Ken Shelton on 01945 780643.

31 MAY 2009

RES took 31 residents from local villages and towns, together with 30 scouts from the 1st Long Sutton Scout group, to see North Pickenham wind farm and the Swaffham Ecotech Centre.

We were blessed with a beautifully hot and sunny day, and for those who managed to make it up the 305 steps of the Swaffham turbine, amazing views right across to Ely Cathedral were the reward. We also visited North Pickenham wind farm, a new wind farm which has the same turbines as those we are proposing for the Grange.

Comments from the day included:
"A wonderful and informative day. All my doubts about a wind farm in the area have now gone."
"It was very enlightening and marvellous, an extraordinary sight from the top."
"A fascinating and informative day. The views were worth the climb!"
